Marshall moving into top tier of prospects

Southern Durham High had five players at last Saturday's final N.C. Shrine Bowl Combine, and once again, DB A.J. Marshall stood out.

Marshall, who is 5-foot-11 and 170 pounds, has said his leaders are Duke, Virginia Tech and Wake Forest, but his offers continue to pile up. Also in the house with bids are East Carolina, Louisville, Maryland, North Carolina, N.C. State, Oregon, Syracuse, Tennessee and West Virginia. A number of other schools are interested as well.

Marshall, who has 4.5-second speed in the 40-yard dash, is coming off a junior season in which he had four interceptions and recovered three fumbles.

A.J. didn't make our first N.C Top 25 prospects list, but he's got a good shot at climbing up the next one. --Stan Olson
