Farmer's Top 3: Tar Heels, Wolfpack, Clemson

Tabor City South Columbus TE/DT Ethan Farmer, the highest-ranked uncommitted player on our NC Top 25 Prospects list at No.9, has narrowed his choices to three schools, South Columbus coach Jake Fonvielle said moments ago.

“He’s got it down to North Carolina, Clemson and N.C. State.” Fonvielle said. He added that he didn’t believe Farmer had a favorite from among the three, although the player has said that he grew up a UNC fan.

That means schools like Alabama and Tennessee, who had also offered, are out of the picture. Farmer will remain uncommitted for some time, though.

“He plans to wait until February to sign,” Fonvielle said.

Farmer, who is 6-foot-2 and 260 pounds, is athletic enough to be a high-scoring forward on the basketball team. He finished his senior football season with about 80 tackles and eight sacks. Offensively, he had six receptions for over 100 yards.

*Lake Norman O-lineman Kane Sherrill, who had previously been a Shrine Bowl alternate, has been added the North Carolina roster. Sherrill, by the way, did not allow a sack while blocking for 622 varsity passing plays.
