Byrnes RB Lattimore up for top national player

Things just keep getting better for Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes RB Marcus Lattimore; he’s been named one of seven finalists for the U.S. Army’s National Player of the Year award.

Lattimore, the nation’s top-ranked running back on several recruiting services and the No.1 overall prospect in S.C. on The Observer’s list, should have a strong shot at the award—for one thing, he’s led his team within shouting distance of yet another state title.

None of his fellow finalists is from the Carolinas. In alphabetical order, they are San Diego RB Dillon Baxter, St. Paul (Minn.) OL Seantral Henderson, Moreno Valley (Cal.) DL Ronald Powell, Hillside (Ill.) WR Kyle Prater Stamford (Conn.) RB Silas Redd and Gardenia (Cal.) WR Robert Woods.

What schools is he choosing from?

This kid knows he is going to SCar, not USC, so I don't know why he is waiting to announce other than for the attention that he is getting. I hate that kids get so much attention for this because they are just stringing coaches along when they know they have no intention of ever committing to them. Early congrats to SCar because it's a done deal and everybody that follows recruiting knows it. Then again, he is getting some free trips so why not take all your allowed visits.

Gerat, so he can be forgotten in a couple years like most other highly regarding recruits Scal gets.
