Duke, Tar Heels, Deacons make graduation list

At first glance, this isn’t about recruiting, but look again and it most definitely is. A total of 41 FBS schools have been honored by the American Football Coaches Association for graduating at least 75 percent of their football players. And that can be a big selling point when coaches are visiting those mamas and daddies. Even if the kids are more concerned with what’s being served at the training table.

So who made the list from the ACC?

Duke, North Carolina and Wake Forest, none of which was a surprise. N.C. State, though, did not. And neither did that academic icon just to our north, Virginia.

Boston
College
and Miami also made it.

No other ACC school was on the list. But then, the league still zipped ahead of the SEC.

Who made it from the best football-playing conference in the land? Alabama, Florida and Vanderbilt. You knew the SEC kept those Commodores around for something.

East Carolina
and South Carolina, our other area majors, failed to qualify.

By the way, the Big Ten led all leagues with six schools, and all three service academies, plus the usual suspects like Stanford, Notre Dame and Rice, made the list.

Why would anyone expect Cow College to make this list, they NEVER do. After all this is the same college whereby Saint Valvano went SEVEN years in a row without graduating a single cager.

If you can't graduate your athletes, and you can't win anything, what's the point of having an athletic department in the first place?

Any way you try to "spin" it, NC State football OWNS UNC!!!!

Obrien still has a lot of Amato's players on his roster. You'll see this improve going forward.

Yep, it's almost as embarrassing as being blown out by DUKE must feel.

Since the Pack is staying home yet again during the bowl season there should be plenty of time for the players to study for finals. One thing is for sure, State's players better hit the books because they sure don't have a future in the NFL. But I am sure they realize that they will be life long losers regardless of whether or not they graduate from that academic power NC State...so whats the point?

Everyone SHUT up! It is NOT the Carolina way to lose 3 YEARS IN A ROW to State! If Coach Davis goes 0-4 vs. State, he should be FIRED!

Well, at NCSU you must take 4 semesters of Math and Science. At UNC-CH, sociology will suffice.

Funny how the moo u. fans can turn a post based on graduation rates and turn it into something else. You necks have one thing Carolina doesn't...a decent QB!!! That's what has won the game for you the past 2 years and once we correct that issue, the problem of losing to the cow college pack will be corrected. Meanwhile, you'll still be sitting home after the game with us (no bowls), you'll still have low graduation rates (and that's putting it mildly), and you'll still have a joke of a basketball team!!!
