Tar Heels, Tide wait: Hill to announce college commitment Sept. 9

West Brunswick High DL Alfy Hill will announce his college choice a week from tomorrow during a 10 a.m. press conference in the school’s cafeteria.

Hill, who had dozens of offers, has narrowed his choices to Alabama and North Carolina.

“They’re both great schools and they’ve both done a great job recruiting him,” said West Brunswick coach Jimmy Fletcher late this morning. “He’ll let us know which one he’s choosing then.”

Alabama’s main recruiter of Hill is Sal Sunseri, formerly the Carolina Panthers’ defensive line coach under John Fox.

Hill is one of the best players in the state, ranked No.4 on The Observer’s NC Top 25 Prospects list. He’s 6-feet-4 and 245 pounds with 4.6-second speed and very difficult to block—he had 112 tackles last season.

Alabama bound. Sorry UNC-CH fluffers...

The question is: does he want a shot at playing in a National Championship or a shot at playing in a Car Care Bowl?

Hmmm -- I don't think at 4-8 UNC will be going to any bowl this year. Next year? Maybe.

Don't hate because he eliminated NC State from his list. If Hill does decide to go to 'Bama, I'm sure that O'Brien had a lot to do with that with all the negative recruiting he's been spreading around the state.
