Offers flood in for Anson's Stephone Anthony

We already told you that Stephone Anthony was one of the top 10 juniors in North Carolina; as of Tuesday, when schools could begin offering scholarships officially, the rest of the world is beginning to find out as well.

Florida, Georgia, LSU, Notre Dame,” said Anson coach Luke Hyatt when I asked him this morning which universities had made their verbal offers official. He was rattling off the names.

What about area schools, coach?

N.C. State, North Carolina, Duke, ECU, Clemson, all of them,” he said. “He’s gonna be recruited by everybody in the country.”

And no wonder. Anthony is 6-foot-3 and 220 pounds, with 4.58-second speed in the 40. Playing outside the past two seasons, he intercepted a total of 14 passes. This year Hyatt shifted him to MLB, in part to keep teams from running away from him.

Through two games, Anthony already has 25 tackles and an interception. He also carried the ball five times for 88 yards.“There are no red flags with this kid,” Hyatt said. “He’s ranked 16th in his class. You couldn’t find a better guy.”
