Quarles backing off Gamecocks commitment? Heels, Vols, LSU and Clemson could be back in mix

Greenwood (S.C.) High defensive tackle Kelcy Quarles is no longer a solid commitment to South Carolina, according to an interview he had with Miller Safrit of Scout.com.

“I saw some things that I didn't like, but that's with every school," Quarles said. "Some things have been going on and I went down there and saw some things.

Quarles didn’t go into detail, but added, “Whatever my decision is, it will come out soon. It's just going to be an evaluation period for me. I will be taking all five of my official visits.”

North Carolina will be included in those visits, as will Tennessee and LSU. South Carolina and Clemson—he’s already familiar with both schools—could get the last two spots.

Quarles, who is 6-foot-4 and 250 pounds, is ranked No.7 on our SC Top 25 Prospects list .
