Marcus Lattimore of Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes High is considered by many observers to be the best running back in the country. He's had scores of scholarship offers, and he's finally whittling them down.
Now he has a final eight, and the group includes Clemson, South Carolina and North Carolina. Also included are Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Maryland (huh?) and Penn State.
No offense, Terps fans, but all the others are either national powers in the southeast or close-to-home Carolinas schools.
For awhile, Lattimore said Auburn was his leader, but he told Scout.com that that has changed, and he currently has no favorite among the eight. --Stan Olson

Umm...since when is Penn State a national power in the souteast?
Uh, my bad. I meant to say national powers or in the southeast, or something like that...
as long as no one was led to believe that the University of South Carolina was a national Power, then I think his point is well made.
