Remember how we told you about Concord First Assembly safety Brandon Stegall moving to cornerback last Friday just so he could shadow WR Tehvyn Brantley, a prime North Carolina recruiting target?
Stegall, who was given the assignment by coach Mike Minter to hopefully get the player a little recruiting attention, shut Brantley totally down. The latter didn’t catch a pass, and afterward told Stegall that he was the best DB he had played against.
North Carolina took note. I got an email from Brandon’s Dad Randy a few minutes ago that read in part, “UNC requested his transcripts & SAT - faxed to them this morning. They have invited Brandon to make an unofficial visit, he may go this weekend.”
Randy also wrote that Liberty had requested more information and film, and invited Stegall to visit unofficially.
It appears that Minter’s unconventional approach with Stegall is paying off.
