Hampton to pick between Vols, Gamecocks, Heels

Speaking of possible Tar Heels, remember former Independence star CB Victor Hampton? He was kicked off the team by Patriots coach Tom Knotts last summer, and wound up at Darlington (S.C.) High. There, according to his coaches, he kept his nose clean and played well.

He’s playing in Saturday’s U.S. Army All-American game this weekend.

Now, he has told our buddy and S.C. recruiting expert Phil Kornblut that he will choose between South Carolina, Tennessee and North Carolina.

“I’m going to have a hat in a bag and pull it out of the bag and surprise everyone," said Hampton, who committed to Florida last year before the Gators dropped him.

“I've picked the school where I was most comfortable, where it would be the best fit, where I liked the coaches, the players, the fans and the environment.”

Hampton, who said he’s had a good week of practice, did indicate that he remains a Gamecocks' lean. We’ll see if that holds up Saturday.

Sounds like a perfect fit for UNC. Undisciplined, trouble maker...he will fit in with the rest at Thug U. If they ever learned how to get all that talent to play together, they might actually do something.

Go get yo swagga on fool!

GANGSTA!

UNC would be an interesting choice since he never visited the campus. Sounds like and SEC guy to me..

Hampton will fit in nicely with the gentleman who kicked the ball into the stands during the Pitt bowl loss. What kind of discipline does Coach Davis teach? Any?

Why is it that you rarely see any of these guys with Wulf U or Dook on their list. But then again, Wulf U plays to beat UNC, that is their entire goal.

Go Huskies.

"But then again, Wulf U plays to beat UNC, that is their entire goal."

In the era of O'Brien vs. Davis, State is 3-0. I'm sorry, but isn't winning the goal for both teams?

Anonymous 4:37, that comment meant that while Carolina cares about making it to a bowl game and becoming an ACC power, all that State cares about is beating Carolina.

Wow!!!! I used to think the same way as many people who decided to write such negative and discouraging comments. But then I met this young man and he showed nothing to me that would make me think he had not learned his lesson......Congratulations to him and much success!

Reid - How much do you know about 3-0?

When I here about a young man that has gotten kicked off a team and the Coach (Tom Knotts) is more of a stroy than the kid I think what is the goal of that program. Kids do stupid things and it is up to Coaches and adults to set them on the right path and if that takes a few times to get them on that track then so be it. Looks likethe SC Coach had that skill set. I also have met Victor and he is not a bad kid at all just needs the right structure of Coaches/Mentors to continue his development as a young man. Good luck Victor!! If I were counseling him I would pick UNC. Tennessee is in turmoil and SC is all about Spurrier.

I bet all of those haters with the negative comments are the same ones that put Hawatha Bell on a pedastle at Butler and he couldn't even go for a semetser. He's gotten kicked off of the team and out of school at UNC and you don't see a write up about that but here with Victor with the speculation of him being kicked off a high school team this Observer makes big headline of that while we get not even an entire paragrah about Bell....the discrimination of the Observer speaks loudly as does it for all you ignorant fools that continue to hate on this young man who is more mature than you adults. Good luck Victor and you do have a lot of us that wish nothing but the best for you.
