Torian Richardson, one of Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes’ huge stable of talented players, has seen interest in him spike since Friday’s nationally-televised loss to No.1-ranked St. Thomas Aquinas in Ft.Lauderdale.
He has said that Alabama, North Carolina and Minnesota have all called since then and expressed interest, according to PalmettoSports.com.
Richardson, who is 6-foot and 180 pounds, had previously been offered scholarships by East Carolina, Kansas State, Louisville, Michigan State, MississippiState, Syracuse and Tulane. He’s also received considerable interest from Georgia.
Richardson is now planning to take in Alabama’s game with visiting South Carolina on an unofficial trip.
So far this season, he has 19 catches for 430 yards and five TDs.
Ken Tysiac has covered the ACC in the Raleigh Bureau of The Charlotte Observer since 2003. He spent eight years in South Carolina covering Clemson, first with the Anderson Independent-Mail and later with The (Columbia) State. He graduated from Notre Dame in 1991.
