Tar Heels a finalist for LB Fortt, who announces his decision today

Linebacker Khairi Fortt, one of the nation’s best at his position, is expected to announce his commitment today, when U.S. Army All-American Tour stops at his school to recognize his selection to the game’s roster.

Fortt, who is 6-foot-2½ with 4.55-second speed in the 40-yard dash, plays at Stamford (Conn.) High. Lately, Georgia has made a strong move up his list. Still, Penn State should probably be considered the leader at the moment, since that was his most recent visit.

Georgia is definitely up there, 'way up there for me,” he told Scout.com recently. “It is really them and Penn State, and then you could put North Carolina.”

That he mentioned the Tar Heels means you can’t rule them out entirely, and should Butch Davis steal him for UNC, it would be a huge boost to a class that could use it.

We’ll let you know later today what happens.

Perhaps its time to hang Butch Davis in effigy--it was in Dean Smith's third year that he was so acclaimed. Dean left a pretty good legacy, so give Butch time. He could be coaching at Tennessee right now, with a 105,000 stadium full of rabid fans, but he stayed because he believes we can win in Chapel Hill. We have a great coach, one that wants to win more than any fan. And he will win!

On behalf of all ACC fans, give Butch Davis another raise and extension! LOL! Duke is going to crush the Heels in Kenan...

That's something...a dook fan trying to get in on a football related discussion!!! Seriously, your program is (and has been for years) the laughing stock of DI football. So now you actually win a game or 2 every year rather than having several consecutive winless seasons in a row. The darkest day in UNC football history pales in comparison to the dark days in the dungeon (dook).
