It’s amazing what a four-star recruit can do for your national rankings.
We refer to
North Carolina’s commitment from OT
T.J. Leifheit, who picked UNC over
Tennessee and
Southern Cal after his official visit to
Chapel Hill last weekend.
I don’t put a lot of stock in the star ratings system, but it’s the only one we’ve got. And since the Tar Heels had just one five-star and one four-star recruit before landing T.J., his decision bumped up the sky blue Class of 2010.
The week before, UNC had Scout’s 46
th-ranked class on Scout. Leifheit bumped the Tar Heels up nine spots to No.37, five behind
N.C. State. Clemson leads
Carolinas’ ACC schools at No.22.
North Carolina has fewer commitments (11) than all but one of the 12 ACC schools, so Leifheit was bound to make an impact. The Tar Heels’ quality, though, has been consistently good, with ten of those 11 holding three or more stars. Their average player rating of 3.18 stars is the highest mark in the ACC.

That's the difference between UNC and State. It's all about QUALITY, not quantity.
Yeah...he doesn't put much stock into a players "star" rating unless it's a highly-rated player who's going somewhere other than Chapel Hill. The lack of objectivity with these guys is laughable!!!
That's funny. Apparently I put considerable stock in T.J.'s rating; he's No.6 on our Top 25 list. Not because of stars, but because he can play.
If I have a "lack of objectivity," it's that I like seeing Carolinas kids attend our Carolinas schools.
"Quality vs Quantity?" Give me a break first poster. For two years now, Butch recruits so many players that he has to kick present football players off his team. He has had a top 10 class each year since he took the helm and still is a periannual loser. Maybe you guys should give ole Butchy another raise.
Mr Vtech
Your boy Beamer got his raise by threating to leave for the Heels but then reneging. A real class act. Your players spend their Sundays in prison while on players spend them in the NFL. Sorry to burst your bubble but signing day is coming and you could be left behind.
Go Heels
