Tar Heels joining pursuit of Byrnes wide receiver

Seemingly never has a loss brought so much positive attention to players on the losing team.

Now it’s WR Jazz King, whose Duncan (S.C.) Byrnes squad—ranked No.2 nationally—lost to No.1-rated St. Thomas Aquinas Friday in Ft. Lauderdale. King, though, played well and now, according to Byrnes coaches, King has been offered a scholarship by North Carolina.

King, who is 6-foot and 180 pounds, caught the Tar Heels’ attention with nine receptions for 158 yards and two TDs in the game.

He’s been playing in the shadow of a half-dozen more highly recruited teammates, but did have offers from Kansas, Tulane and Michigan State, although in-state schools Clemson and South Carolina haven’t paid much attention.

We told you yesterday about fellow Byrnes receiver Torian Richardson, who also picked up added attention following the 42-34 loss.
