TE Jones picks Crimson Tide over Tar Heels

Harrison Jones, a TE/WR at the Evangelical Christian School in Cordova, Tenn., has committed to Alabama, he said in a statement Monday night.

Jones, who is 6-foot-4 and 225 pounds, picked the Tide over North Carolina.

Part of his statement read, “"I have always been an Alabama fan, following both the football and basketball teams. I was so glad when Coach (Nick) Saban became the coach at Alabama because I knew he would build a great program to put Alabama back on top like it was for so many years. He is a brilliant coach, and he has a focus and intensity that is unmatched.

He spoke with me on many occasions about my decision. He told me that he was recruiting me because I have the tools and potential to have a successful career at Alabama.”

North Carolina
had been in the thick of it, with Jones saying, “"I visited the University of North Carolina several times and really loved the campus, coaches and the atmosphere. Last year, I went to the UNC-Notre Dame game, and it was a fantastic experience. I also camped there and went on two unofficial visits."

All of that makes for a lot of time invested by the UNC coaches.

The Tar Heels can only hope that wasn’t an omen—they’re still battling head-to-head with Alabama for talented DL Alfy Hill of West Brunswick High in Shallotte. A decision is expected by Hill soon.

They should be looking in their own backyard. Hunter Westfall is the best TE in NC and he's right under their nose.

Most people that follow recruiting know Hill has been a given for Alabama for a few weeks now. Are you just going for dramatic effect?

NC high school recruits and coaches see that Butch Davis is nothing more than a used car salesman. After losing to Duke in a few weeks, the UNC-CH will turn against Visor Boy Jr.

UNC should ask Butch to return his ill-gotten raise!

You whine and cheese UNC-CH'ers better get ready for the BEATDOWN at Kenan when ECU comes to town. We can't wait to rip down your goal posts amid the pretty pine trees!
