Clemson beats Cavs, Terps for huge offensive lineman

The Tigers have received the commitment of 6-foot-8, 296-pound Gifford Timothy of Middletown (Del.) High, his father said today.

He also had offers from Maryland, Virginia, Rutgers, Boise State and Utah.

Timothy’s father gave South Carolina recruiting expert Phil Kornblut several reasons for his son’s decision.

“The school spirit and the fan base," he said. “He likes the new facilities. And he feels it's an up-and-coming staff. It's a fresh program so there will be opportunities.”

Recruiters like Timothy’s drive blocking and consider him a strong pass blocker.

Clemson now has 18 commitments, including four O-linemen.

Get ready to live on a farm for the next four years of your life.

And I hope you like being 3-5 in your division.
