Independence OL out of Shrine Bowl

Independence High offensive lineman Ryan Thompson's stay at the Shrine Bowl was a short one. He suffered a high left ankle sprain during Tuesday morning's practice and by the time he returned for the afternoon session, he was on crutches with the lower left leg heavily wrapped.

Thompson said it would keep him on the sidelines "for two or three weeks."

His replacement has not been named.

North Carolina already had lost offensive tackle Kane Sherrill from Lake Norman High to a shoulder injury. He was replaced by Kevin Alphonso of Richmond Senior.

It will not matter, this coach is stuck in the 70's John Riggins offense. A terrible selection who has coached against SC and lost before in the Shrine Bowl. Losing breeds Losing!!! WE NEED YOUNG COACHES...NC has no shot !!!

Nothing like causing confusion with a new offense with so little time to prepare.... Maybe it will work both ways

Lets focus on the real story here. A young man who is truly deserving of playing in a game of a life time will not get to play because of an injury. I am sorry for him and wish him all the best. He is still a shrine bowl player to me.

just my opinion, but they could have found a better player than him, at 225 lbs,,just how is he going to block those 300 lbs tackles, he couldn't block 200 lbs during the season, only reason he got the call was because of TK
