Tar Heels, Gamecocks lose DT Floyd to Gators

Just now, Philadelphia DT Sharrif Floyd blasted the hopes of both North and South Carolina--both in his final four--by choosing the Florida Gators.

So the rich get richer, and the Tar Heels in particular have to be hating this all-America game. Floyd is the third player today to have a UNC cap sitting in front of him and declined to put it on. At least South Carolina nabbed CB Victor Hampton, another who skipped over that Carolina Blue.

Floyd is considered by some to be the best DT in the country. And had he picked either Carolina, he would have been a huge boost to that program.

Good player, would've loved him in Chapel Hill. But who can compete with Florida and Bama these days?

True, and these games don't help. The kids badger anyone who isn't going to a "big name" program, which is just the way kids are. I think that hurts the Carolinas schools dramatically.

Sometimes I wish football was like basketball in terms of signing kids who they know will be there for at least three to four years. Kind of like UNC and Duke does in basketball and a great example would be John Wall..why invest in someone that will be gone in one year? Both Roy and K know that it takes more than one kid and one year to win championships.

Both tried to get in the game late with Wall...who are you kidding?

Roy chases these guys more than K, but they BOTH chase.

Get your facts straight...Wall actually chased us and would have come to the Hill id Roy and staff had offered. Roy never was, at any point, entertaining the thought of offering Wall...for various reasons.

Now back to the actual topic...unfortunately Butch is proving why I thought he was a bad hire in the first place at UNC. He has "name" recognition, but once that wears off, you have a guy who isn't a great coach, doesn't hire great position coaches and coordinators, and doesn't play the best players at each position. Any Carolina fan who thinks we are going to win anywhere near 8+ games next year...even with the guys on D coming back are only fooling themselves. Shoop and Yates will be back and we have a tougher schedule=less than 8 wins.

"get your facts straight" Go look at the Tar Heel Times - see where Roy said, "we recruited him really hard, then things happened (legal issues) and we had to rethink our offer."

Keep lying to yourselves Heel fans.
