2011 Myrtle Beach QB to choose Heels today?

Myrtle Beach (S.C.) High quarterback Everett Golson, considered one of the top quarterback prospects in the nation for the class of 2011, will make his college choice known today at 3:45 p.m. at a news conference at the school.

Golson, who long has favored North Carolina, has written scholarship offers including Clemson, East Carolina, Duke, Stanford, Michigan and Virginia Tech in addition to the Tar Heels. Golson is expected to play basketball in college as well.

The Observer ranks Golson No. 3 on its list of the top junior recruits in South Carolina (with our early list of top juniors in N.C., too.)

Listed at 6-1 and 175 pounds, Golson has started at Myrtle Beach since he was a freshman. He was a member of the South Carolina all-state football team as a junior, when he completed 224-of-356 pass attempts for 3,529 yards, 47 touchdowns and three interceptions. Golson also rushed for 199 yards and five touchdowns as Myrtle Beach finished 13-2, losing to Clinton in the state Class AAA title game.

In three years, Golson is 659-of-1,061 passing for 9,872 yards, 126 touchdowns and 24 interceptions. Myrtle Beach is 39-4 with Golson as the starter.

I have seen this kid play. He's the best high school QB I've ever seen in person. His skill sets are impeccable. He can drop back in the pocket with damn near NO foot movement and can rope it on a dime at a crossing receiver 20+ yards down field. If there is a flaw, it's his size. They list him here at 6'1". Don't think he's much over 5'11" in cleats but he may grow a little taller. I hear Kiffin has signed a 13 year old 'phenom' QB...LOL. Whatever! Golson though, other than height...IS THE REAL DEAL.

Looks like a Russell Wilson 2.0 for the Heels. He would be a great pickup to the offense and help out their already stellar D.

How far back is he in the shotgun? 8-9 yards deep?

yeah, i've seen him play too and he is very good. not sure why my guys, South Carolina, is not recruiting him. Spurrier needs to realize you don't have to be 6'3 220 to play QB. Tar heels will have a good one if he chooses them.

USC is not recruiting him because they have no shot at him. He grew up a huge NC BBall fan and the fact that Roy Williams will let him try and play bball along with football was too much to overcome.

The kid is a baller, no doubt. USC would love to have him.

Who cares? UNC-CH is a graveyard for QB prospects. Can't wait for Yates to light up LSU in a few months. Yea, right! LOL!

LSU will hang 50+ on UNC.

LSU hang 50 on heels next year. D is coming back next so doubt that.

LSU hanging 50+ on the Heels D next fall? This is a comment from someone who has absolutely no idea what they're talking about. Too much NCAA on playstation 3 and too much mouth make for some ignorant statements like that one. LSU's highest points total in 3 years was 42 against Tulane. This will be a great, close College Football game.

Kid looks great. Half the throws on the highlight reel are to receivers with no one within 5 yards of them. Either the receivers need to come with him or they play weak db teams.
