Defensive back/wide receiver Keenan Allen of Greensboro, who's the top prospect in the Observer's Top 25 N.C. players, has announced that he is signing with California.
A former Alabama commitment, Allen (6-2, 195) announced his decision at a news conference at a Greensboro restaurant. He's taking a group of friends with him, too.
His half-brother, quarterback Zach Maynard, is transferring from Buffalo and will attend Cal. Former Greensboro resident Gabe King and Central Carolina Sports Academy linebacker Chris McCain also are headed to Cal.
Northern Guilford cornerback James Scales announced that he's signing with Oregon.
