There must be something about quarterbacks from Pac-10 country that intrigues Duke football coach David Cutcliffe.
His first quarterback signee at Duke was Sean Renfree of Scottsdale, Ariz., who's a promising redshirt freshman backup entering the 2009 season.
Senior starter Thaddeus Lewis will depart after 2009, so in February, Cutcliffe signed Sean Schroeder of Dana Point, Calif. As if that wasn't enough, Cutcliffe has tapped California again for a commitment for the Class of 2010.
Brandon Connette, a 6-foot-2, 208-pound quarterback from Santiago High in Corona, Calif., committed to the Blue Devils on Tuesday. Santiago High coach Steve Mitchell confirmed the commitment this morning. - Ken Tysiac
