N.C. State releases recruit from scholarship

N.C. State basketball recruit Joseph Uchebo, a 6-foot-9 forward at Raleigh Word of God, has requested a release from his scholarship offer.

Uchebo could not be reached for comment today, but N.C. State spokesperson Annabelle Myers confirmed that Uchebo had made the request of new coach Mark Gottfried and the Wolfpack program. N.C. State has granted Uchebo's request, Myers said.

"The staff wishes him the very best wherever he wishes to go," Gottfried said in a statement released by Myers.

Good luck to him.....wish he was part of the Pack, but only "free" spirits belong here.

Hey,KYFAN here. We have room for a big man. Come to Kentucky! I think he would enjoy playing for a national championship every year!

Every year? What "year" are we talking about? The year(s) Calipari couldn't get there or the ones where he did and was stripped of his appearances. Steve Miller said it best- take the money and run...

NC State is a JOKE.

Bottom of the barrel.

@ ryan...which ACC schools were in the Final Four again? It's just a matter of time before UK picks up number 8, which is almost as much as UNC and Duke combined..

Take the money and run is what he did at NC STATE, why waste talent at a NIT school. COme on down to UNC, a REAL school.

Anon, if Knight and Lamb return, Kentucky has a great shot next year with its ridiculous recruiting class (watch out for UNC). And Uchebo would give them a true and talented center, which they lack.

Being a fan is great, but avoid the hybris. Fans who are full of themselves are insufferable.
