UNC target Stokes stands out

CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Jarnell Stokes stood out among the big men at the NBAPA Top 100 camp on Thursday morning for both his immense size and his skill set.

Of the 96 players in the camp, most are all arms and legs but Stokes, who's going into his junior year of high school, is built like an NFL tight end.

At 6-8, 240 pounds and with size 20 shoes, he's big for a 26-year-old, let alone a 16-year-old.
He was dominant for the Rockets in a 100-75 win over the Jazz on Thursday morning, scoring 11 points and just out-muscling his competition.

"I'm just trying to get my name out there," said Stokes, who's rated by ESPN as the sixth-best prospect in the class of 2012.

Stokes, who's from Memphis, said North Carolina, Maryland and Florida State called him Wednesday. He's also being pursued by Memphis, among other schools.

He made himself an instant message-board hero at UNC, and the opposite everywhere else, when he was asked if one school was his favorite.

"Everybody loves North Carolina, but the reality is they're all even," Stokes said.

J.P.--Every UNC, Duke, and State fan know you get your recruiting information on those message boards...which is sad.

Actually it's funny.
