Raleigh basketball star commits to N.C. State

N.C. State landed one of its most noteworthy recruits in recent years when McDonald's All-American C.J. Leslie of Raleigh Word of God committed to the Wolfpack.

"I'm going to N.C. State," Leslie said. "It is a great school and we can be good there. And obviously, Coach Lowe is a great coach."

Leslie said this morning that he was undecided with Kentucky and Connecticut still in the the picture, but he decided during the day that he was sure he wanted to run with the Wolfpack.

"It was really up for grabs," he said. "It was really close with the other two schools."

Even as a Tar heel fan, congrats on this kid. I'm glad he's not going to UK.

HUGE pick-up for the Wolfpack and Lowe!

Starting five of:
C Tracy Smith, Sr.
SF C.J. Leslie, Fr.
PF Richard Howell, Soph.
SG Lorenzo Brown, Fr.
PG Ryan Harrow, Fr.

...with SG Scott Wood coming off the bench - could be a deadly lineup! Watch out for the WOLFPACK!!

GOD IS GOOD! Finally, after 20 years of suckage, we might be relevant again.

It is a great pick up for the pack, but now the pressure will really be on coach Lowe to produce some wins. C.J. Leslie is a blue chip player. A lack of talent will no longer be an excuse.

If we don't do well this year, we can just do like UNC last year, and say "we were such a young team" lol

UK's got too many early-draftees to replace, so the money bag isn't as big this year.

I like how all the UNC fans are acting like Leslie is no good, just because he committed to State.

That makes three 5-star recruits this year for the Pack, Heels and Devils better watch out!

What? ALl I see is heels fans saying great things about the kid. I wish we had him.

This commit gave NC STATE possibly the Number 1 recruiting class in basketball. 20 years of below avg results, Jimmy V's bday week, last minute commitment from Leslie against KY and the Observer cannot do a story on it.

GET OFF ROY's D*#K.

/\ Agreed. 100 ways to write this story and they just "commit" to a side article. Shame.

If it was UNC - they'd have students in the street dancing and talking about how this was just the piece they needed, bragging about being "back," etc....

Do an article on their HELMS Championship from 1812. Those "Champs" got two national titles from that.

This is NOT the Carolina way! Roy BETTER RECRUIT better or else next year will disappoint even more! Terrible! Pathetic! Roy, you are on the clock! Go Heels!

God puts hopes and dreams in our hearts so that: (1) motivated people reach to attain goals, and (2) so that we see a way for bad situations to turn around. With its BEST recruiting class in decades, NCState will have the look of a powerhouse program such as a Duke or a UNC. For the Wolfpack faithful it has been a long and arduous struggle. Congratulations! Payday is here!!!
