I'm on vacation--but stay in touch anyway

Fellow recruitniks, I have to get some vacation time out of the way over the next three weeks, so I will temporarily vanish from this blog, but will return.

Keep clicking on this site, though; we should have information coming in from our prep and college writers.

I'll be back in a big way at the end of beach and backyard time - we're working on a database of all the players who are being recruited for football across the Carolinas. It's a work in progress; I talk to every coach about his players, and
put significant information about them in the database...

As always, drop me an email at solson@charlotteobserver.com with any commitments, offers or visits you know of. And also, if you have a player for me to check out.

Four-star defensive back and Florida recruit dismissed from high school team
Victor Hampton, a rising high school senior who is ranked as the No. 4 cornerback in the nation by rivals.com, has been kicked off his Charlotte Independence High School team. He is considered one of Florida's oral commitments for 2010.

Hampton's high school coach, Tom Knotts, told the Charlotte Observer that Hampton was dismissed from the team on Tuesday morning. Knotts did not give a reason for the dismissal.

Hampton has at least one previous arrest, according to police records. He was arrested on July 3, 2008 for misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

Hampton told the Charlotte Observer he will move in with family friends and attend a different high school.

NC State recruit Pete Singer has recently been arrested in Chatham County NC for possession of drugs and a concealed handgun. He has also had more than one alcohol-related driving arrest. Will NC State stick with its commitment to this young man? The offenses are all misdemeanors.

WOW!!! It's amazing there are more people in the world besides Victor that have made mistakes. Unbelievable. It must be a mistake.
